frank

The Story of Frank begins in the Spring of 2017 when a four-week-old kitten, born in the wild, stumbled into the backyard of a home nestled on a tree-lined street in a lovely southeast Cedar Rapids neighborhood.

The family at that address loved the kitten but, alas, two of the humans were allergic to cats so they had to find a new home for the rowdy orphan. Following an extensive search, they came across a local bookseller who already shared living space with a tortoise shell cat named Eleanor (Ellie). The bookseller was invited to meet the young feline and within the week the “little peanut” became the newest member of the bookseller’s family.

The bookseller named his new roommate Frank as it seemed a strong and fitting name for a cat who survived living on the mean streets and alleyways of the Brucemore area before being rescued.

Frank was ten weeks old when he began working at the store. He quickly adapted to his role as a shop cat and, in no time, became the store’s top sales associate. He works Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; however, he occasionally takes a day off to recharge. We’re careful not to violate state and local pet labor laws.

Pop in and say hello to Frank when you’re in the area. He may (or may not) be happy to see you.
